CD cover for Chalgija Sound System, Tihuvanje, 2019

My cover design for the new CD, "Tihuvaj" by the exseptional band Chalgija Sound System.

In honour of the women who preserved the Macedonian visual, auditory and linguistic tradition throughout history, but also relating to the title of the album, I used a stylised bat taken from our folklore as the main motif for the cover and cd label. This motif was used as an embellishment of a bridal shirt holding special protection symbolism. Typical for the Kumanovo region, it dates to the 19th century, but it is assumed that it has deeper roots.
