The intellectual genocide in the Balkans

From the 1990s to the present day, the Balkans have been dominated by nationalism. It has become an exceptional tool for the ruling of this region. A system has been established that constantly blames the neighboring country, nation, culture or religion for the poor economic situation, the lack of basic human rights and freedoms at home. A system of fused vessels in which one nationalism needs another has been cemented. That's how bloody wars happened, and we spent the past 28 years in our own “reality show” in which the spokespersons and followers of these nationalist structures convinced us that "they deserve it" and "there is worse".

Languages

In Macedonian language (as well as in other Slavic languages) there is only one word which has both meanings: a language and a tongue. A language and a tongue is the same word. This poster is commenting the newly proposed law on use of languages, which apart of Macedonian language – the official language in the country, enforce use of the Albanian language as an official at central level. The use of languages has always been a battlefield for the nationalistic political structures from both sides.

In this nationalistic “soup” our lives have been transformed into an economic statistical figure by "selfless", "saviours of God-chosen people", "purebred" and criminal gangsters who continue to muddle and fabricate. Moreover, the "national saviours" were growing richer and profited together with those who they defended us from.

In the past 28 years, I have heard all kinds of manipulative filth that justified any criminal proceeding. Lives were destroyed, people were killed, companies were taken over, education was degraded.

Those vocal "drummers" who sowed fear, those who were silent and made sure to be invisible, translucent, those who love to be sunflowers, those who together enjoyed one corrupt orgy jointly made the worst happen, and that is the intellectual genocide in the Balkans. With the emigration of these citizens from the Balakan, the small Balkan states remained without their creative critical power, one that guarantees a better future for each country. When the power of the young critical thought emigrates, an enormous space opens up for stupidity.

I spent 30 years of my life listening to propaganda, full of stupidity, historical-religious constructs, various "Frankenstein" truths. With my posters I want to make change in the perception of the Balkan people and also to show the world our absurd, the fiction which we live in, in the Balkans.
